A Family Room is an informal, all-purpose room where everyone tends to flock.
This, in most homes, is the one room in the house to be used the most, so why not make it look great and feel great! If this is where you spend most of your time when your home then why should it not be the one room in the house that you can call your favorite?
No one wants to come home each day from a hard day in the office to a family room with blank wall and a mixture of mismatched furniture and accessories. This unfortunately is what happens with so many people…they get caught up in thinking that in order to create the look they want and desire, they must spend lots of money and buy all these new things! HELLO! This is NOT the case and we are going to help you to learn why!!
Something you should always remember- When spicing up your family room, or any room in your home for that matter, “a little flavor goes along way”. And if its too much to paint the entire room go with just painting one accent wall! Accent walls brighten up the room without taking attention away from the rest of the room and its decorations!
2) CHANGE OF UPHOLSTERY- Take your sofa or chairs for example: you can change their entire look with something as simple as a ship cover to mask that outdated floral design or dingy solid color that’s faded and worn in places and bring them back to life without going to all the trouble of getting all new furniture! Another simple way to change upholstery is replace all pillows. Decorative pillows are a great way to spice up a room and give it a completely new feel. You can easily find pillows in any shape, color, and design- Surround yourself with comfort and style and be as creative as you want!
3) WALL ART- Every room needs a focal point! A great piece or accent that the eye instantly finds! Create your focal point with a great piece for your wall! Sometimes its great to showcase this over your sofa to really create a WOW impression for the entire room. Find a great mirror or colorful canvas to hang above your sofa. The unique shape or vibrant colors will be sure to put you in a good mood year round!
4) ACCENT TABLES: Accent tables or end tables are a great way to showcase your style. You can find accent fabrics in a variety of styles and designs. You can even take an old table you might already have or be using and take a bottle of spray paint to it! I promise you won’t recognize it as the same table you started with! Tables are always a great way to jazz up a room!
5) LAMPS: Make a statement with your lighting! There are many different styles, shapes, and sizes of lamps out on the market now. Accent lighting has become a huge design technique within the design industry. Let your lighting fixtures be the jewelry to top off your Family Room, and really spice things up!
